DEMENTIA SUPPORT SERVICES CONSULTATION (closing date 11 March at 5pm)

Derbyshire County Council, Derby City Council and the NHS Clinical Commissioning Groups are consulting on the delivery of Dementia Support Services in Derbyshire and Derby City. They would like  to hear the views of people who use these services, professionals involved with them and other people who live in these areas. They want your opinions on the current service but also any other ideas on how support could be provided to people with Dementia and their carers. This is an important opportunity for people with Dementia, carers and staff to have their say and influence commissioning plans so please share with your members and users.

More information and the onlinequestionnaire are at:  https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/Dementiasupportderbyandderbyshire

NCPC have been commissioned by the Care Quality Commission to gather feedback from local groups and people using services as part of their end of life care review. NCPC are doing this in partnership with the Race Equality Foundation and National Voices.

They are seeking feedback from local groups who work with individuals or carers of people who are dying or who have died in the last year. Specifically they are looking at the following population groups:

  • People over 75 and their carers/ families
  • People with a diagnosis other than cancer (dementia, stroke, heart disease, COPD, motor neurone disease)

Additionally they are looking at:

  • People from black and minority ethnic communities, people with a learning disability, who are homeless, people in or with recent experience of the criminal justice system, people from the travelling community

If you feel you have any relevant experiences to share from local groups that fall into the above, either good or bad, get in touch with Louise Palmer at L.palmer@ncpc.org.uk or on 07798 923 087 / 0207 697 1520.

The deadline is 28 September.

Evidence gathered will inform local CQC inspections between September and December 2015. A public report of the review’s findings will be available in early 2016.

There is still time to book your place at this free event, sharing the learning from the volunteering in care homes project.  Details below:

Improving the well-being of care home residents through volunteering programmes

Midlands ‘Learn and Share’ Event

Friday 24th July 2015, 9.30 – 1.30 at Oakland Vilage, Hall Farm Road, Swadlincote DE11 8ND

You are invited to attend the above event – part of a series of regional events being held by the Volunteering in Care Homes project. It will be hosted by South Derbyshire CVS (we are one of the 6 national pilot sites) with input from our colleagues from Shropshire Rural Community Council.

At this event, we will share the key findings from the Project’s interim evaluation report, launch the volunteer induction training resource and present case studies of successful volunteer management good practice emerging from South Derbyshire and Shropshire.

The Project is now in its third and final year and recruits volunteers to support older residents, individually and in small groups, to share their time and talents in bespoke activities with the aims of improving the residents’ quality of life.

This event will provide opportunities for participants to discuss the emerging themes and shape the content of the volunteering in care homes good practice guide.
