Service Manager

Service Manager with British Red Cross, based in Nottingham
35 hours per week
£24,827 per annum, with benefits Permanent

You will be part of a team which is responsible for managing and developing health and social care services to vulnerable people across Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire. Staff and volunteers support people to regain their confidence and independence after illness or incapacity. The team works closely with statutory and voluntary sector partners.

The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic person, with experience of managing and motivating people in the delivery of health and social care services. You should have excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work in partnership with external organisations. An understanding of quality monitoring and reviewing standards is essential. A current driving licence and access to a car will be necessary.

Healthwatch Derby logoHealthwatch Derby is the new independent and proactive consumer champion (a public Watchdog) for the choice and the quality of health and social care provided to Derby City residents.  It will provide the people of Derby access to all the local health and social care decision-makers and give them a national voice through Healthwatch England.  Healthwatch Derby will also provide information and advice to help Derby’s residents to understand and make choices about services and then to access the services.

Office Supervisor

Equivalent to NJC pt26 (£22,221)

The post holder will support the Healthwatch team engage with the wider community of Derby City to help them participate in improving health and social care services across the City. They will:

  • Work with the Chief Executive Officer to ensure the day-to-day running of the organisation.
  • Be responsible for establishing and maintaining administration, HR and payroll systems.
  • Develop effective and consistent communications within Healthwatch England guidelines.

Complaints, Information and Signposting Officer

Equivalent to NJC pt24 (£20,858)

The post holder will be responsible for developing the structured complaints, information and signposting role of Healthwatch Derby, engaging with the wider community of Derby City to log their experiences of health and social care services.  They will:

  • Develop effective methods of handling a portfolio of enquiries in line with current and changing procedural requirements providing a high quality complaints, information and advice service.  Liaising with Community Engagement Workers to receive, manage and respond to compliments, comments and complaints around health and social care services.
  • Be responsible for establishing and maintaining the necessary monitoring systems for individual concerns, compliments, comments and complaints and trends analysis.
  • Work closely with stakeholders to signpost the wider public to relevant services in order to resolve complaints, comments and concerns in a timely and efficient way.
  • Provide a visible and effective service ensuring the public have access to timely and high quality information, advice and signposting about health and social care services.

Community Engagement Worker (3 posts)

Equivalent to NJC pt15 (£16,054)

The post holder will work with the Membership and Engagement Officer to help engage with the wider community of Derby City to help them participate in improving health and social care services across the City.  They will:

  • Ensure members of the general public are made aware of opportunities to participate in various ways to help to improve health and social care services across Derby City.
  • Help deliver, or support the delivery of, the range of community engagement activities identified as being appropriate.
  • Supports operational team to fulfil their functions.
  • Record views, observations and findings of engagement activities and make them known to the appropriate  audience following Healthwatch Derby policy and procedures.
  • Liaise and work with new and existing groups to engage membership.

All positions are 35 hours per week, job share will be considered.

South Derbyshire District Council has been awarded funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund to explore and restore the heritage of Eureka Park in Swadlincote. We are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic and motivated Community Engagement Officer to work within our project team, and deliver a five year programme of activities and community projects at the Park.

The main focus of the role will be to deliver the Activity Plan, which is designed to support the heritage restoration works through a programme of community engagement to rediscover and document the “invisible heritage” of the park. You will help develop the Friends of Eureka Park group and work with other stakeholders to engage a wide range of local people in a programme of activities. The project will reconnect local people with their Park, explore and celebrate the park’s lost heritage and help to create a new enthusiasm for becoming involved in its future development.

The successful candidate will be a confident verbal communicator, who has proven experience of partnership working and community development, and can plan and deliver community events. You must have an understanding of and commitment to equal opportunities, safeguarding issues and experience of working with diverse communities.   You will be required to work some evenings and weekends, and should have access to your own transport.

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for three highly motivated people with great interpersonal skills, to join the Community Sports Trust – a Community Interest Company developing sport and physical activity opportunities at a grass roots level.

In partnership with Amber Valley, Chesterfield and Erewash Borough Councils, and a range of funding partners, we are seeking three sports development professionals who are passionate about the development of sport, physical activity and healthy communities.

Community Sports Activators will listen to and support local people within villages and neighbourhoods. They find out what people want to do, and support them to start new sport and physical activity opportunities, improving the health and wellbeing of local people. They will develop local ‘volunteer activators’ who encourage and motivate people of all ages to get active, and stay active through sport. They will support the development of volunteers, coaches and clubs/groups, resulting in active communities.

The ideal candidates will be excellent relationship builders, with a high level or organisational ability, and motivation to develop community sport. If you can demonstrate you have the necessary skills and attributes to fulfil this role, we would love to hear from you.

CVP (Community Voluntary Partners ) brings you an exciting opportunity to receive training, a salary for 51 weeks at £15,173 with possible progression into a second year, and a bursary.

This is a partnership between Locality (the national network for communities ambitious for change, Re:generate Community Trust and CVP.  CVP will be the “host” organisation and you will work from our office (in Shirebrook, Bolsover District) and have some support from CVP staff. Whilst you will use CVP  as a base, this role is largely out and about in communities.

We are looking for people with bags of confidence. This doesent mean you have to be an extrovert but you do need excellent communication skills. You will have the skills to challenge discrimination and inappropriate power relationships within communities. You will need leadership skills as you will be developing ideas alongside volunteers.

You need to have excellent listening skills – even to be able to listen to things that you may find difficult to hear, and an essential quality is a passion for people. The foundation of the role is to provide opportunities to listen and conversations that build trusting, respectful relationships and networks.We need you to be honest and open with a willingness to door knock – sometimes on your own. You don’t have to be academic but you do need to be prepared for some studying as all trainees will work towards gaining an OCN qualification in Community Organising. Supervisons and studying are often completed online so a basic standard of computer literacy is required.

We will hold interviews locally on May 28th, 2013 and then all suitable candidates will be invited to a three day residential course before a contract is offered. You must be prepared to attend the residential course which will take place in July.
