South Derbyshire CVS Community Development Team
What do we do?
In a nutshell – we want to help you or your group get from where you are to where you want to be.
There are other facets attached to this, for example;
- we can help you get a local platform to voice any views you have about health or social activities
- we can help you by making sure you know about new ways of working or volunteering more safely, this may mean putting you in touch with other organisations or pointing you in the direction of training that may help, it may mean helping you to put a policy together or helping your committee become stronger.
- We can also help you in your search for funding and will advise you with application forms until you feel confident to tackle them on your own.
Pam Wood – Community Development Officer
Pam leads the team and knows a lot about everything! Pam attends quite a lot of strategy meetings at the council and finds out what information the council are looking for from the local community. This can often lead to consultations where you would have opportunity to voice your opinions. For example, with the new personalisation project proposed by the government. Pam is looking for community groups or individuals who would like to pass their comments back.
Pam has also played a major part in the ground work to setting up a Learning Disability forum for residents in South Derbyshire. All these different forums or partnerships provide you with the chance to be heard.

Eric Clayton – Community Development Worker
Eric’s speciality is in funding. Are you a community group or an individual looking for funding? Eric is your man. He can have a brief chat with you over the phone or you can make a longer appointment where you can look at various funding options for your project. He will also no doubt give you a few tips for filling out an application form.
Eric also helps groups access training for example, food hygiene, committee skills and the like. He has also arranged courses that can help committees keep good accounts which is crucial especially as funders require clear and clean accounting.
