What is Sport Makers?
Sport Makers is part of the official London 2012 legacy programme Places People Play and is basically an adult sports volunteering initiative. Its focus is getting more people directly involved in the delivery of community sport and supporting the existing network of community sport providers and events. A key aspect of the Sport Makers programme is that it is not just about signposting people into traditional sports volunteering pathways (though this is still important) but also about creating new informal opportunities for adults to play sport. This could be as simple as a Sport Maker encouraging a few friends to join a fitness class or a running group they attend or organising a badminton session for colleagues at work. The programme will run till September 2013
